Katara - the Culture Village concludes on Saturday its Eid al-Adha festivities which witnessed a massive turnout of people from all age groups and nationalities.During the first three days of Katara's Eid programme, there was significant interest in the questions and answers competition, Katara's gifts, and the theatrical performance "Al-Aql Nama." The fireworks on the first two days of Eid were the highlights.Today (Saturday), the events continue with presentations at Al Thuraya Dome Planetarium and the Islamic stamps exhibition - Haj, along with a virtual film about pre-Islamic Mecca using VR technology, presented by Katara in collaboration with the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs through the Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Centre.Throughout the Eid holidays, Katara welcomed visitors with a variety of activities and diverse entertainment and art events appealing to one and all. The music performances at Katara's Oud Centre during the first three days of Eid were praised by the renowned GCC artist Ahmed al-Jumairi. He appreciated the centre's efforts to attract visitors and enthusiasts of the Oud instrument. He also expressed his hopes that Katara's Oud Centre would become a hub for Gulf music by organising programmes and activities that contribute to the preservation and revival of Gulf songs.Similarly, the play "Al-Aql Nama" received considerable attention from families and children due to its important artistic message and presentation tailored to the younger audience. The director and playwright, Hanan Sadik, said that "Al-Aql Nama" revolves around instilling essential values in children, such as cooperation, solidarity, and not giving up. The play cleverly conveyed these ideas in a fun and engaging manner, aligning with the children's interests and adapting its outdoor scenes using cinema technology to effectively convey the messages."Katara's Al Thuraya Dome Planetarium at Building 47 continued to offer a selection of distinctive shows during Eid, including films 'Oasis of Space' in 3D at 5pm, 'Zula Space Guardians' at 6pm, and 'Ghost of the Universe' at 7pm.The Eid gifts event at Katara's waterfront saw a significant turnout with two periods of distribution at 6.45pm and 7.30pm to children. The "Questions and Answers" competition, which concluded yesterday (Friday) in Al Hekma Square, was also well-received by the audience.Katara also launched the 'Eid Takbeers at Katara' competition, exclusively for boys aged 10 years and above. Participants were required to record Eid takbeers in Katara, emphasizing their facial features, with high-quality audio and video, and the video should not exceed one and a half minutes. In addition, the competition for the "Most Stylish Outfit in Eid" was open to boys and girls up to the age of 15 and will continue until the third day of Eid.
