Municipalities intensify checks on food establishments, slaughterhouses ahead of Eid

While preparing to welcome Eid al-Adha, the municipalities across Qatar have intensified checks on food establishments and slaughterhouses and held awareness programmes.At Al Sheehaniya, the Health Control Section of the Municipal Control Department continued its inspection campaigns on food establishments, markets, meat and poultry shops and bakeries. Awareness programmes were carried out at the slaughterhouses to ensure they are properly disinfected. The municipality officials checked various procedures and the safety of workers.At Al Wakra, Jamal al-Buainain, director of the Municipal Control Department, in the presence of the officials concerned, inspected Al Wakra Central Market to ensure its readiness to work and receive slaughtered animals during the Eid period. The inspection covered production lines and places of slaughter and cutting.The Health Control Section also carried out an inspection campaign at vegetable and fruit shops and Al-Wakra Central Market to ensure the food shops adhere to the required health requirements. Legal measures were initiated against shops and workers who violated the Human Food Control Law.Al Shamal Municipality, represented by the Health Control Department, carried out an inspection campaign on all food outlets and at Al Shamal public slaughterhouse. The campaign also covered butchers and shops selling sweets and nuts.The municipality has also completed its preparations by cleaning all gardens, parks, mosques and prayer grounds.The Doha Municipality, represented by the Health Control Department, organised an awareness meeting on the basics of food safety for officials and employees of food delivery companies to raise the level of health and safety for handling, transporting and selling food.At Umm Slal, a team of veterinarians from the Health Control Section, organised an awareness campaign for the public with the aim of introducing ways to ensure the safety and health of animals to be sacrificed. The campaign reminded the importance of slaughtering in slaughterhouses under the supervision of the municipality.At Al Khor and Al Dhakhira, the Health Control Section is organising several inspection campaigns on food establishments and shops selling sweets, chocolate, nuts, vegetables, and fruits while covering slaughterhouses and butcheries here.The department's doctors will also be present daily at the fish market in Al Khor where fish will be examined regularly throughout the Eid holiday.
