GCC Secretary-General: GCC countries make significant efforts to combat drug

The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi affirmed that the GCC countries are making significant efforts to combat drug, which has become a global scourge killing the present and future of the youth.On the occasion of the International Day against Drug Abuse, Albudaiwi praised the efforts of all relevant authorities in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in particular, and the international community as a whole, in confronting this dangerous phenomenon, highlighting the threat it poses to security and stability in the region, transcending borders, nations, and continents and leaving devastating effects on the future and development of societies.Combating drug abuse requires effective international cooperation and joint efforts by governmental, civil and individual entities. The Gulf Cooperation Council countries are committed to enhancing international cooperation and coordination among nations in this field by developing a vision and systematic mechanisms to combat and prevent this phenomenon, in addition to developing procedures and policies to combat drug abuse, the GCC Secretary-General stated.He emphasised the importance of raising awareness within the society about the harms and dangers of drugs, as well as their impact on all segments of society. He called for caution and vigilance in dealing with this scourge and its effects, urging support for official efforts to combat it and using all available resources to face its challenges and protect communities and youth.
