Qatar participated in the 6th Arab High-Level Conference on the Rights of the Child, which was held under the motto of an effective and sustainable developmental investment guaranteeing the rights of the Arab child, with the participation of ministers and heads of national mechanisms concerned with childhood affairs in Member States, and relevant regional and international organisations. The virtual conference sought to shed light on the 2030 Child Development Agenda, as the sustainable development plan represents an opportunity to address the main development challenges in the Arab world with the aim of promoting the rights of all children.Speaking at the conference, Assistant Undersecretary for Social Affairs Mubarak Ghanem al-Kuwari said that Qatar attaches great importance to the protection and promotion of children's rights, setting it as a priority in its development plan, which relies primarily on investing in human capital. He also stressed Qatar's keenness on providing the necessary facilities and the appropriate healthy environment for a good upbringing for all children in the country.Al-Kuwari added that the Ministry of Social Development and Family operates through its specialised departments and supervised centres that provide social security services, especially for the most vulnerable groups, the most important of which are children.Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Social Affairs Sector of the Arab League ambassador Dr Haifa Abu Ghazala said the conference will contribute to developing a road map for planning and implementing public policy on children affairs taking into account sustainable development.
