12 participants make it to second round of Universities Poet 2023 contest

Twelve participants are taking part in the second round of the fourth Universities Poet competition, local Arabic daily Arrayah reports.The competition has been organised by the Qatar Poetry Centre (Ministry of Culture) in co-operation with Qatar University, other universities and civil and military colleges. It features the categories of classical poetry and Nabati poetry, and will continue until May 20, when the final round will be held.Twelve contestants were selected from among the participants taking part in the first round. These include six in the Nabati poetry category and six in the classical poetry category.The six qualified contestants in the Nabati poetry category are Saeed Ali al-Dahabib, Saeed Ali al-Afir, Mohamed Saleh al-Nabit, Hamad Jaber al-Jarhab, Rashid Mohamed Sind and Hamid al-Midad al-Hababi.As for the classical poetry category, the six qualified contestants are Hamad Salem al-Rashdi, Adel Mohamed Abdel-Hamid, Osama Ali al-Saadi, Mohamed Aflaj, Abdullah Ismail Ahmed and Mohamed Ahmed Dhiab.The second round of the competition began last evening at Qatar University's College of Education Building.
