The 21st session of the Global Counterterrorism Forum in Cairo is being held with the participation of Qatari delegation from its embassy in Egypt. The session's activities include a number of sessions on several topics of importance in the field of combating terrorism and extremism, including the challenges facing counter-terrorism efforts in the African continent, as well as a review of the objectives and work plan of the forum and the activity of its sub-working groups during the coming period. It is noteworthy that Qatar is a founding member of the Global Counter-Terrorism Forum (GCTF), which was established in 2011 by 30 members to serve as an informal, non-political and multilateral platform to combat terrorism, with the aim of strengthening international efforts in the long-term strategic approach to combating terrorism and violent extremism.
