The Abu Samra border crossing received some 376,500 passengers and more than 107,300 vehicles during the Eid al-Fitr holiday, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said Saturday."We remind you that the pre-registration service continues on the Metrash2 application for citizens and residents, as well as through the Hayya platform for visitors. We are happy to serve you and look forward to your visit and providing more convenient services," the ministry tweeted.The MoI had announced, just before the Eid holiday, that Qatari citizens and residents can take advantage of the Abu Samra border crossing pre-registration service to complete departure and arrival procedures through a fast lane kept exclusively for pre-registered vehicles. The other lanes served vehicles as usual.The pre-registration facility is an optional service.Qatari citizens and residents can avail of it by going to the Travel Services section on Metrash2. Once completed, the applicant will receive a confirmation SMS.For visitors, the service is available on the Hayya portal.The Eid holiday saw a large number of people from other GCC countries visit Qatar, which hosted a wide range of events and activities at multiple locations to mark the occasion.The GCC visitors lauded the facilities and events in Qatar, noting that Qatar is a role model for what intra-Gulf tourism can provide for Gulf tourists during the festive season and vacations.From traditional favourites such as Souq Waqif and Katara - the Cultural Village to new hot spots such as Lusail Boulevard and Old Doha Port, among others, GCC tourists could be seen enjoying Eid celebrations in considerable numbers a various places in Qatar.
