Al Qannas Qatari Society has concluded it campaign accepting falcons donated by their owners in preparation for releasing the birds back into nature.The 6th campaign was held from March 10-25 at the headquarters of the society at Katara - Cultural Village.After receiving the donated falcons, the society takes them to the Souq Waqif Falcon Hospital in batches for veterinary examination by specialists to ensure the birds are free from infectious diseases and fit to be released into nature.The campaign witnessed a good turnout by Qatari falconers, who donated some of their best falcons.Ali bin Khatem al-Mehshadi, chairman of the society, pointed out that after the end of the hunting season and the related festivals and championships, Qatari falconers have donated more than 50 falcons and they are to be released in Azerbaijan as it is considered one of the most important routes of falcon migration. This will be done in co-operation with the environmental authorities there.Al Qannas Qatari Society has already released more than 218 falcons into the wild during the previous five editions of the campaign.
