Several humanitarian experts and activists stressed the need to expand charitable activities during the holy month of Ramadan, which reflects the extent of compassion and solidarity among community members.They noted the importance of consolidating the principle of sharing in charitable humanitarian work through solidarity and social responsibility.In remarks to Qatar News Agency (QNA), they pointed out that several methods to provide humanitarian work were available through licensed associations and agencies. They pointed out that Ramadan is a genuine opportunity to move forward toward charitable and humanitarian work that achieves the desired goals in other people's lives.Director of the Emergency and Relief Department at Qatar Charity, Khaled al-Yafei, said charitable associations and agencies, including Qatar Charity, compete to implement a series of projects that support food security and alleviate the sufferings of migrants and displaced around the world.He pointed out that Qatar Charity's initiatives focus on areas of crises and disasters as well as the neediest groups in poor communities through iftar projects, including food baskets, meals, and tables; distributional of Zakat; and Eid clothing.In addition, Qatar Charity distributes Eid presents and gifts for orphans and children of low-income families to alleviate their sufferings and put a smile on the faces of children, widows, and orphans.Al-Yafei said the 'Leave Your Mark' campaign, with the support of donors from Qatar and 40 countries around the world, was launched this year as an extension of what Qatar Charity has been doing since the beginning of its activity, pointing out that there are seasonal projects that will be presented for the benefit of humanitarian, sick and other cases through Alaqraboon platform.The Director of the International Programmes and Development Department at Qatar Charity, Abdulaziz Jassim Hejji, stressed the need for charitable and humanitarian work due to the ongoing crises and disasters, last of which was the earthquake that hit northern Syria and Turkiye. He stressed the keenness of Qatar Charity to reach as many people in need as possible during Ramadan - the month of compassion, solidarity, and helping others in need.Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) CEO Faisal al-Emadi said humanitarian work has been QRCS's focus since its establishment and it derives its inspiration from Qatar's traditions and stance in this regard.On the QRCS projects, al-Emadi said the organisation is working on implementing several humanitarian and charitable initiatives at the local and international levels through a package of projects and programme that contribute to achieving social humanitarian, relief and development goals.Through these projects, QRCS strives to meet the needs of the needy and vulnerable among various communities and extend a helping hand to support them by providing them with food, clothes, healthcare, shelter, and empowerment and sponsorship of orphans, so that these projects continue throughout Ramadan.The world has recently witnessed a noticeable increase in humanitarian disasters and crises, including: climate change, the Covid-19 pandemic, the earthquakes in Syria and Turkey, in addition to the steadily increasing number of refugees around the world, which calls for the need for concerted efforts to contain these crises and help people to return to their normal lives, he said.The charitable projects and activities greatly contribute to meeting the basic needs of people and preserving their dignity, and this is considered the main goal of the QRC's strategy of work, which is based on the slogan "Saving lives and Preserving Dignity", he added.
