QFCA, AmCham Qatar sign MoU to enhance bilateral trade, investment relations

The Qatar Financial Centre Authority (QFCA) and the American Chamber of Commerce Qatar (AmCham Qatar) have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance bilateral trade and investment relations between the two countries.The MoU was signed by Sheikha Alanoud bint Hamad al-Thani, deputy chief executive officer and chief business officer, QFC, and Brooke Holland, executive director, AmCham Qatar, on the side-lines of the recently held fifth Qatar-US Strategic Dialogue.Under the MoU, both parties will work to promote the QFC as an ideal financial and business platform for foreign financial investments, provide necessary support and facilities to American companies interested in doing business in Qatar, and organise events and initiatives to serve the common trade and investment goals of the two sides."The QFC plays a pivotal role in strengthening the 50 years bilateral trade and investment relations between Qatar and the US and sustaining the countries’ strategic partnership," Sheikha Alanoud said.Highlighting that the efforts in building on these rewarding bilateral ties are reflected in the steadily increasing number of US firms registering on the QFC platform, which has reached 115; it said among them are Goldman Sachs Group, Mastercard, Uber, and Oracle."This MoU continues to show the importance of private sector collaboration. The American business community is a key stakeholder in the shared US-Qatar economic success, and local partnerships with organisations, such as QFC, allow us to provide resources and support to companies considering Qatar as their next market," Holland said.Sheikha Alanoud also participated in the ‘Economic and Commercial Co-operation Session’ organised on the side-lines of the fifth US-Qatar Strategic Dialogue, where she talked about the importance of empowering and involving Qatari women in decision-making processes and in vital areas of economic affairs and the impact of such inclusion on developing societies and in building a sustainable and diversified knowledge-based economy.
