Thousands of students across the country Sunday resumed the second term of the academic year 2022- 2023 at government schools.The students were welcomed back to schools at the morning gathering, followed by the distribution of new textbooks.HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Buthaina bint Ali al Jabr al Nuaimi stressed the importance of supporting students in all academic, educational and social aspects.This came during a visit HE Al Nuaimi paid Sunday to Al Sheehaniya Model School for Boys and Al Sheehaniya Preparatory and Secondary School for Boys, to inspect the two schools' educational environments.HE the Minister underlined the importance of continuing to improve the quality of teaching and learning, coinciding with the return of students to their schools marking the beginning of the second semester of the 2022-23 academic year.Earlier, the government schools across the country had completed preparations for receiving students for the new term, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported.A number of school managers confirmed that they have finished all the required maintenance works, and started sending SMS to parents alerting them about the timing of the school and daily lessons' timetable. Most schools also organised special events to felicitate the students who excelled in the first term.They stressed that attendance will be registered from the first day and any absences will be marked and notified accordingly. The extracurricular activities are also set to resume.Faisal al-Yafeai, director of Ibn Sina Secondary School for Boys, said that the school has made all the necessary preparations to start the new term effectively from the very first day of the students' return. He said the new location of the school has been sent to the parents through SMS messages alongside notifications of the importance of maintaining regular attendance at the school.Yousef Ibrahim al-Jassim, director of Abu Bakr Al Sidiq Preparatory School for Boys, said the school will maintain a full school day from Sunday, from 7am to 1.25pm.Ismail Abdulbaqi Shams, director of Omar Ibn Al Khattab Secondary School for boys, said textbooks were distributed to the students in the first period of the first day and the timetable for lessons proceeded as usual.Mohamed Abdulla al-Dabagh, director of Mohamed Ibn Abdelwahab Secondary School for Boys, said comprehensive maintenance works have been done to upgrade the classrooms and other facilities.
