Qatar Cancer Society launched the “Let’s Draw a Smile” campaign this September to raise awareness of childhood cancers, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote health awareness across the community, emphasise the importance of healthy lifestyles, and support children living with cancer and their families.The campaign features a range of awareness programmes and activities targeting children, parents, and other community members. These include in-person and virtual lectures and workshops highlighting childhood cancers, key signs and symptoms that require attention, and the importance of health awareness in recognising and responding early to any unusual changes.“Let’s Draw a Smile” campaign also places particular emphasis on encouraging healthy lifestyles from an early age. As part of these efforts, QCS is organising healthy cooking programmes and workshops for children and their families to promote sound nutritional practices and encourage healthy habits that can become part of their daily lives.As part of the campaign’s humanitarian and community-focused efforts, QCS has also launched a fundraising initiative to help support the treatment costs of children with cancer, in collaboration with many selected restaurants and cafés. Under the initiative, QAR 5 from every beverage purchased at participating outlets will be donated to support children’s treatment, offering members of the community a simple and meaningful way to contribute to their treatment journey.Mona Ashkanani, general manager of Qatar Cancer Society, said that “Let’s Draw a Smile” reflects QCS’s vision and its belief that awareness and support go hand in hand. She emphasised that addressing cancer extends beyond healthcare alone and requires a supportive community environment that fosters hope and stands alongside children and their families throughout the treatment journey.She called on individuals and institutions across the community to engage with the campaign’s activities and participate in its awareness and humanitarian initiatives, stressing that every contribution, no matter how small, can make a difference and bring a smile of hope to a child’s face.She added: “This initiative reflects the importance of collective efforts among community organisations, the private sector, and individuals in supporting people living with cancer and strengthening the concept of social responsibility. A simple everyday action can become a meaningful contribution that makes a real difference in the life of a child and their family.”
