Kahramaa promotes sustainability as part of ‘Qatar-India 2019’ event

The “Qatar-India 2019” event kicked off at Kahramaa Awareness Park yesterday.The three-day event is organised by Qatar General Electricity and Water Corp (Kahramaa), represented in the National Programme for Rationalisation and Energy Efficiency “Tarsheed”, and focuses on the culture of sustainability to achieve sustainable development.The event was opened by the Director of Kahramaa Energy Efficiency and Rationalisation Department, Abdulaziz al-Hammadi, and Indian ambassador to Qatar P Kumaran, in the presence of a large number of students from Indian schools and members of the Indian community as well as senior staff of Kahramaa and the Indian embassy. The students presented a variety of cultural activities in the park and took part in many activities to learn values for environmental conservation and energy efficiency.Kahramaa said that the event aims to deliver the message of rationalisation and energy efficiency to expatriate communities in order to protect the environment for a better life, and to inform them of the progress Kahramaa has made in its efforts to achieve Qatar National Vision 2030.The programme has been carefully designed and co-ordinated to promote mutual understanding and appreciation between India and Qatar.Commenting on the occasion, al-Hammadi said that the event aims to reduce harmful CO2 emissions, increase efficiency and conserve resources.For his part, the Indian ambassador said Kahramaa has taken the initiative to promote the culture of sustainability among different communities in Qatar, and stressed the importance of engaging the Indian community in the programme as one of the largest expatriate communities living in the country, in order to contribute as positively and objectively as possible.He expressed pleasure that the programme focuses on the younger generation residing in Qatar, and also highlighted India’s clean energy sources and energy efficiency.
