Qatar participates in UN Youth Climate Summit

Qatar participated in the United Nations (UN) Youth Climate Summit held in New York City, US, as part of the Climate Action Summit 2019.The Qatari delegation to the summit included representatives from the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, Qatar University, Qatar Petroleum and a group of young people interested in climate change.The summit began with a speech by United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, in which he stressed the importance of the role of youth in addressing the phenomenon of climate change.The one-day summit saw many programmes bringing together activists, innovators and young change-makers who are committed to tackling climate change at the speed and level needed. Several experiences and ideas were highlighted through presentations and discussions with representatives of governments, civil society and youth.The summit is a platform for young leaders who are leading climate action to showcase their work and solutions at the United Nations and to share with decision-makers the issues of the day.
