German court rules in favour of doctors who let suicide victims die

 Doctors in Germany are not obliged to try tosave someone's life against their will following a suicide attempt, acourt has ruled. The Federal Court of Justice in Leipzig on Wednesday upheld decisionsfrom regional courts in Berlin and Hamburg in which the will of thepatient was found to be a deciding factor. The two doctors involved had both cared for sick patients who hadtaken deadly medications, but decided not to take any measures tosave them. They were accused of homicide.However, the court ruled that in both cases, it was clear that thepatients had wanted to end their lives.
