Al Egda Street in Al Khor City to be partially opened

Al Egda Street is located to the north of Al-Bayt Stadium.
The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced the partial opening of Al Egda Street in Al Khor City.The new step from part of Ashghal ensures better convenience for motorists and easy access to important locations.Al Egda street is located to the north of Al-Bayt Stadium and represents the link between two main roads, Al Khor Road and a road leading to Al Shamal Road.The opening, according to a statement issued by Ashghal, also facilitates the access to Al Bayt Stadium, which is one of the 2022 World Cup stadiums.Engineer Ali Ashkanani, head of Northern Areas Section, pointed out that the section that was opened from the street is about 2.8km long and includes three lanes in each direction with a 3m-wide pedestrian path on each side of the street.Ashghal has implemented four signal-controlled intersections on the street in order to increase traffic flow along with the installation of barriers to improve traffic safety.The development works also include the installation of 145 lighting poles and the construction of a 2.5km long drainage network.Al Egda Street works were carried as part of the project to upgrade link roads to Al-Bayt Stadium in Al-Khor.The project features the construction of 5.3km of roads, and an 8m-wide pedestrian path and cycle path.These are in addition to landscaping and pavement works that will be carried out at the surrounding roads.Intelligent Telecommunications Systems will be installed in this project in addition to the installation of specific street lighting poles similar to those used inside stadiums.Energy-saving LED lamps will be used for street lighting.The project also includes linking the stadium to a sewer and surface water drainage networks.Ashghal started the implementation of the project to upgrade link roads to Al-Bayt Stadium in fourth quarter of 2017.The progress of the project reached 48% and it is scheduled to be completed in fourth quarter of 2019.
