105 carcasses removed in cleanup campaign

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME)’s General Cleanliness Department has conducted a cleanup campaign in the Al Sheehaniya area, where 105 cattle carcasses were removed from the vicinity of a farm complex.In addition, different types of garbage and waste materials were also removed, the MME said in a statement.Safar Mubarak al-Shafi, director of the department, said such campaigns aimed at the disposal of random waste and carcasses of dead animals cover all areas in the country.These are implemented alongside regular scheduled cleanup works, in a way that would not affect the normal flow of work, he informed.Al-Shafi said the dumping of carcasses in a haphazard manner amounts to unacceptable and improper conduct that threatens the safety and well-being of the environment and also distorts the landscape.He noted that people who are involved in such acts are irresponsible and indifferent to the efforts exerted by the MME to maintain public hygiene.The official urged all concerned to dispose of dead animals in the designated areas and containers, which are available in good numbers near the farm complex.
