A team, comprising College of the North Atlantic – Qatar (CNA-Q) students and instructors, has won recognition in Demo Day organised by the Qatar Business Incubation Center (QBIC). Last week, Business Studies students Fahad al-Adba, Jeil Eid, and Anees Mallick and their instructor Peter Robertson were selected along with seven winning teams of the competition. The CNA-Q team has developed ‘Not Busy Now’, an interactive marketing app. The application was developed by CNA-Q D2L project administrator, Vince Stack. Each of the winning teams will receive rent-free office space for two years, coaching and mentoring to help grow their businesses and up to QR100,000 in seed funding.“CNA-Q has taught me a great deal about how to start a business,” said al-Adba, who earlier in the week also picked up a trip to Berlin in Germany as a result of winning Bedaya’s Get in the Ring Global Pitch Competition through Not Busy Now. “It was an incredible week, and without the coaching I received at CNA-Q, none of this would have been possible,” he said.“We have a wide range of talents at the College,” said Business Studies dean David Himmelman. “From our knowledgeable instructors to our bright young students, this remarkable victory is another indication that CNA-Q has what it takes to offer the very best in educational training.”The winners of the Demo Day competition are now able to start developing their businesses as incubated startups.
