The Italian ambassador has hailed the visit of the Italian Senate president to Project Qatar and her participation in the event’s opening ceremony.“We are very pleased that the President of the Italian Senate, Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati, participated in the opening ceremony of Project Qatar and visited the exhibition with HE the Minister of Commerce and Industry Ali bin Ahmed al-Kuwari. Italy takes part with 20 companies, the biggest European presence this year,” said ambassador Pasquale Salzano. The Senate president’s participation has “greatly contributed to drawing attention to the high-quality solutions and products offered by Italian companies operating in the construction/infrastructure sector and related industries for the Qatari market,” he observed. “While looking for new opportunities of business and strengthening commercial ties between our countries, the Italian companies represent solid and stable partners to back the full achievement of the objectives established by the National Vision 2030 and in view of the FIFA World Cup in 2022. The visit of the president of the Italian Senate further confirms the support of Italy to the economic growth of Qatar,” the envoy noted.Project Qatar is an international exhibition of “top-level construction and infrastructural solutions”. “This is why every year Italian companies choose to showcase 100% ‘Made in Italy’ products on such an impressive business platform,” said Giosafat Rigano, director of the Italian Trade Agency in Doha. The Italian companies participating in the 2019 edition of Project Qatar are specialised, in particular, in natural stones, marbles, industrial equipment, fit-outs, wooden parquet and thermal/acoustic insulation of glass. The exhibition has also registered the participation – for the second time – of Trentino Sviluppo Spa, a company established by the autonomous province of Trento in Italy in order to foster the sustainable growth and internationalisation of this specific local productive system by developing actions and services aimed at supporting the creation of new entrepreneurial and innovation projects. The sectors represented within this delegation include natural stones (porfido), wooden parquet, remote systems for information and communication technology and water treatment devices, a press statement notes. Through the co-operation with Trentino Sviluppo, the Italian Trade Agency in Doha and the Italian embassy have organised, during the three days of the exhibition, approximately 100 business meetings between the Italian companies on show at Project Qatar with local companies in order to support contacts and partnerships and explore new business opportunities. “A customised and tailored approach we are really proud of, it is cut out based on the specific requirements and strengths of every company and aimed at encouraging innovative infrastructure projects and technological solutions for smart cities and urban development,” affirmed ambassador Salzano.
