US Democrats request Trump documents from Deutsche Bank

The request to Deutsche Bank and other financial institutions relates to the question of whether foreign states have tried to influence US policy, Representative Adam Schiff said.
Democratic lawmakers in the US Congress haverequested documents from German lender Deutsche Bank as part of theirinvestigation into the financial affairs of US President DonaldTrump. The request to Deutsche Bank and other financial institutions relatesto the question of whether foreign states have tried to influence USpolicy, Representative Adam Schiff said on Monday in Washington.  The Intelligence Committee and the Finance Committee have subpoenaedthe banks accordingly, he said.According to the New York Times, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America andCitigroup have also been requested to provide documentation.Schiff presides over the House Intelligence Committee. It and theFinance Committee have been trying to gain insight into DeutscheBank's operations since the Democrats regained a majority in the USHouse of Representatives.  The core of the probe is transactions between Trump and Germany'slargest bank and possible connections to Russia.According to Schiff, Deutsche Bank has been cooperative so far.  A spokeswoman for the bank said: "Deutsche Bank is in a productivedialogue with the committees." The bank wants to provide informationas part of its legal obligations, she said.Spokespeople from the six largest US banks - JPMorgan Chase, Bank ofAmerica, Citigroup, Wells Fargo, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley -either declined to comment or initially failed to respond to requestsoutside normal office hours.
