Dreama launches Ajaweed initiative

The Orphans Care Centre (Dreama) yesterday launched the Ajaweed initiative to open the door for all the segments of the community to get to know, socialise, and make friends with the children of the centre as a means of successful social integration.Qatar Foundation for Social Work (QFSW) executive director Amal bint Abdullatif al-Mannai received the Ajaweed flag from the athletes of the Qatari Paralympic Committee and fixing it to the base in front of the Tornado Tower, marking the launch.Dreama executive director Mariam bint Ali bin Nasser al-Misnad, and the executive directors of the centres under the umbrella of the QFSW were present, according to a statement.The initiative also shores up support, donations, and volunteering to offer any possible service or teach any useful skill to the children of Dreama Center.Al-Mannai stressed that empowering the orphans would be an added value to the development of the community in particular and humanity in general.Al-Misnad stated that the Dreama Ajaweed campaign comes in line with the centre’s vision and mission to raise the awareness and educate the local community about the groups supported by Dreama and highlight the active role the centre is playing to serve the orphans in Qatar. The name of the initiative is derived from the local proverb “Give, even if you only have a little.” The launch ceremony began on March 23 with parachutists landing in Al Ruwais area in northern Qatar with the flag. It was carried across the country in motorcades, cycles, on camels, horses, and dhows.Dreama’s Community Awareness Office director Noor al-Muhannadi said: “We called the initiative Dreama Ajaweed because giving is the best reflection of the noble efforts to empower the orphans and integrate them into the community.
