Katara hosts ‘horses photography’ exhibition

The “Al Adiyat” photography exhibition by Omar al-Hammadi was inaugurated on Tuesday at Katara – the Cultural Village, featuring 40 images of horses, taken in countries including Sweden, Poland, Ireland, Germany and Qatar.

Katara general manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti led the inauguration of the exhibition, organised by the Youth Hobby Centre at building 18. Its name was derived from an ancient Arabic word, meaning “horses storming a battlefield.”

According to Katara, horses are a significant symbol in the Arabian culture and so in Qatar, and al-Hammadi focused on specific types of horses.

He was keen on snapping the subjects in certain positions while in action, citing the beauty of these Arabian horses.

Al-Hammadi said his photographs were taken in different countries to search for the best and most beautiful breeds of horses.

“My hobby in horse’s photography began in 2009 where I started my research and travels and I learned a lot about them during that time,” he added.

He lauded Katara for hosting his exhibition, as well as the Centre for constantly supporting young talents.
