With road connectivity showing massive improvement on Qatar’s southern side in recent months, especially over the last few weeks, more residents are now utilising their weekends to familiarise themselves with the new roads, it is learnt. Many residents, especially bachelor and ‘singles’ groups, are out during weekend mornings in areas surrounding extended neighbourhoods of Mesaimeer, through which the Orbital Highway and G-Ring Expressway have been laid. More connections have been added to the new main roads over the past one month, with the opening of the new links, originating from the flyover built in Mesaimeer, said to be the tallest in the country. “It is nothing short of amazing to see the spurt in road developments and the look of the areas concerned have also changed considerably,” a resident said. Those living close to the Orbital Highway in such residential and  commercial developments like Barwa City are echoing similar views. The vehicular movement between southern and western areas, especially between the locations in the neighbourhoods of the Industrial Area and developments like Hamad Port and Mesaieed Industrial city have become smoother than ever before. Similar movement is also possible for trucks between the Logistical Village and the Port, inquiries found. Goods-laden trucks running from either end experience no congestion at all and considerable time is saved and remarkably good saving can be made on fuel also, it is learnt.
