All set for Qatar National Day festivities

His Highness the Personal Representative of the Amir, Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani, participated in Qatar's Arda, which was held in the Amiri Diwan yard on Doha Corniche to celebrate Qatar National Day. His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa al-Thani and a number of Their Excellencies Sheikhs, ministers, dignitaries and citizens took part in the Arda.

In an atmosphere filled with national pride and loyalty, the Qatar National Day 2018 will be celebrated today across the country with gaiety and pomp and a variety of activities.

The Doha Corniche is decorated to host the National Day parade from 2.45pm, the highlight of the celebrations. The Organising Committee of Qatar National Day 2018 has completed all preparations to ensure the festivities take place in the best possible way.

The main platform has been recently expanded and beautified. Qatar's flags (Al Adaam) have been raised on the lighting poles to flutter in the sky, echoing the depth of national belonging and evoking the history of ancient Qatar and its modern progress.

The parade is being organised under the motto of Qatar National Day 2018, ‘As long as it was proven by our deeds … Qatar remains free’, and reflects the vision of the Organising Committee so as to depict enhanced loyalty, unity and pride in the Qatar national identity.

The palm trees along the Corniche have been decorated threefold compared to last year. The green spaces, which spans many kilometres, have been decorated with roses and other flowering plants and illuminated with dazzling lights.

The preparations also include the towers areas that has been lit and decorated. The scenes in the sea also reflect the national atmosphere with traditional boats spread along Corniche.

The National Day Organising Committee has called upon all citizens of Qatar to participate in the parade and enjoy the various military and civilian shows. All necessary amenities and facilities have been provided along the parade route, starting from the Sheraton Doha to Fardat Al Shuyakh.

More than 20,000 seats are available for the audience to witness the parade. There are approximately 23 assembly points, accommodating more than 20,000 vehicles. Also buses will be offered to transport the public from these points to the celebration site along the Doha Corniche.

Five large screens, installed at different locations along the Corniche, will show visuals from the parade. Further, there are large screens inside the new Al Bidda Park and Souq Waqif.

In addition, 31 food carts will be provided along the Corniche. There will be 26 ambulances on standby along the Corniche and surroundings, to provide the necessary medical services, in addition to public toilets and special toilets for the disabled.

The National Day parade will be preceded by a classic car show along the Doha Corniche. The festivities will conclude with fireworks for 10 minutes from 8pm. Al Kass TV channel will be the official broadcaster of the parade.
