Shaheen Lembarak, Wasa win gold at Qatar Arabian show

Mohamed Mubarak al-Sulaiti Abdullah’s Shaheen Lembarak and Nasser al-Hajri’s Wasa emerged as the champion stallion and champion mare respectively, while Al Shaqab horses swept the colt and fillies championship in the 21st Qatar National Purebred Arabian Horse Show at the Al Shaqab Indoor Arena on Sunday.Shaheen Lembarak, who had topped Class 12 for four-six-year-old stallions earlier on Sunday, edged out Nasser Mohamed Mesfer al-Hajri’s Gazwan Al Nasser in the championship round for gold.The latter had to be content for silver for the second straight edition of the show, after collecting 17 points to Shaheen Lembarak’s 18. Al Sraiya Stud’s Amaar Al Nasser won bronze with 12 points.Wasa collected a total of 22 points out of a possible 24 for her gold in the Mares’ Championship. Al Nasser Stud’s Bshaier Al Nasser and Mesfer Mohamed Mesfer al-Hajri’s Deema Al Nasser took silver and bronze respectively.Al Shaqab’s Zuhayr Al Shaqab, winner of Class 6A for yearling colts earlier on Sunday, amassed an almost a unanimous approval of the judges with 24 points, to win gold in the colts’ championship. Al Reeh Stud’s Amir Al Reeh and Al Nasser Stud’s Badiea Al Nasser finished second and third in the championship round respectively.Siwar Al Shaqab brought home second gold for Al Shaqab in the fillies championship collecting 20 points for the gold, while Sheikh Nawaf bin Nasser al-Thani’s Hattan Al Nasser won silver with 15 points. Assayel Al Uwaynah Stud’s Magna MS had to settle for bronze with 10 points.Siwar Al Shaqab had booked her spot in the championship round with a win in the Class 3A for Yearling Fillies on Day One of the championship on Friday.
