Qatar ranks among most stable countries in the world: Lebanese envoy

Lebanese ambassador Hassan Najem stressed that Qatar has become, thanks to its wise leadership, one of the most prosperous, secure and stable countries in the world. He added that the country also enjoys growing regional and international presence.Speaking to Qatar News Agency to mark the National Day, he said that Qatar has become one of the most prosperous countries of the world and has been able to implement many mega-projects, advanced infrastructure and programmes in the fields of education, health, security and urban planning, as well as leading media experiences in the Arab world.The ambassador then congratulated His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, the wise government, the Qatari people and the residents on the National Day.Ambassador Najem also praised the patriotic spirit enjoyed by every citizen and resident on this land, noting that everyone who lives in Qatar could sense that spirit among people especially their honouring of the sacrifices of the earlier generations. He paid tribute to the Founder of Qatar and to His Highness the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, who the ambassador said built on the previous success. He said that National Day celebrations is very significant, given that the state is celebrating its sovereignty. The ambassador added that it’s a day when the leadership and the people unite in a show of their patriotic feelings and their commitment to the state. He said that it was these factors that led to a high standard of living respected around the world. He added that his personal experience ranks Qatar among the most secure and stable countries in the world. The ambassador pointed out that the foundations of Qatar’s domestic and international policies have enabled it to overcome the challenges of the region by building developmental projects that reduce the dependence of the state on imports from abroad, adding that Qatar’s success during the unjust blockade stemmed from its ability to resort to self-sufficiency in many products.The ambassador said also that the success during the crisis is indicative of the sound actions taken by the government last year, which have proven their validity after the local Qatari products became a first choice not only for Qatari citizens and residents alike. He also praised Qatar’s efforts to resolve disputes peacefully. In this context, he referred to Qatar’s efforts to resolve a number of disputes through mediation at the request of the parties concerned, based on the Charter of the United Nations and the principle of dialogue as an alternative approach to resolving disputes between parties. The ambassador highlighted that Qatar’s efforts have yielded remarkable results for all of its mediation. He mentioned the sponsorship of the national dialogue between the political parties in Lebanon in 2008, as well as the resolution of the dispute between Djibouti and Eritrea and mediating the resolution of the conflict in the Darfur region of Sudan as examples of those efforts.On the Qatari-Lebanese relations, he stressed that these relations are an advanced model for what the brotherly relations between countries should aspire to, stressing Lebanon’s keenness to develop these relations to the maximum extent imaginable. The ambassador also highlighted that bilateral relations have always been based on co-operation and fraternity. He pointed to many of the honourable positions, including Qatar’s recent decision to exempt the Lebanese citizen from the prior visa to be able to visit this country at any time without administrative complications and said it left a good impression on the Lebanese people.
