National Day festivities kick off at Katara tomorrow

The National Day festivities at Katara – the Cultural Village will kick off tomorrow, featuring 45 events to mark the nine-day celebration. A high tech and first-of-its-kind planetarium in Qatar will also be inaugurated at Katara as part of the event, besides the staging of “Citizens and expats – we are one” opera on December 17 and 19.Katara general manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti said that this year, Katara prepared an exceptional festival programme for what he described as “a very special and important national event.”The celebration will include fireworks, opera, musical shows, parachuting, dance shows, cultural shows and other fun-filled activities, which will take place at different venues such as the Katara beach, amphitheatre and Katara esplanade from 4pm to 10pm.Several concerts by prominent Qatari singers will also be held during the festivities at the amphitheatre, in addition to other performances.Visitors will enjoy an extraordinary show by parachuters from the Qatari Special Forces on December 17 and December 19.
