A five-day festival of Italian jewellery and ornaments started yesterday at Alfardan Jewellery at Mall of Qatar.Italian ambassador to Qatar Pasquale Salzano opened the event in the presence of Alfardan Group chairman and prominent Qatari entrepreneur Hussain Alfardan and Alfardan Jewellery vice chairman and president Ali Alfardan.While expressing happiness at the growing participation of Italian jewellers in the events happening in Qatar, Hussain Alfardan said the simplified and liberalised business conditions prevailing in the country would help attract many jewellers in festivals to be held in the coming years.He pointed out that Italy and Qatar have all along shared very good business relations, especially in the area of jewellery and their company has close association with a large number of Italian jewellers for more than six decades.Hussain Alfardan said Italian jewellers are renowned for their innovation, creativity and aesthetic sense and many universally acclaimed jewellers from the Mediterranean country have been doing business with their Qatari counterparts.“Italian craftsmen are among the best in the world and they have an illustrious tradition of hundreds of years in jewellery making,” he said.Ali Alfardan said though their company have had a colourful track record in hosting exhibitions, this is the first exclusive Italian jewellery show to be held in Qatar.Many of those creations exhibited at the festival are making their debut at an expo and they could also be displayed at the next edition of the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition to be held at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre in January 2019.Such brands as Giloro, Paolo Piovan Gioielli, Mimi, Mattia Cielo, Xpandable Picchiotti are participating in the festival.Ambassador Salzano said he is happy to find that jewellery from his country has enjoyed remarkably good patronage in Qatar.He also appreciated the owners of Alfardan Jewellery for holding an exclusive festival of Italian jewellery.
