A delegation from Qatar is participating in the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Council of Europe on Spectator Violence.The delegation to the meeting, which began yesterday an runs till December 7, is headed by Brigadier Ibrahim Khalil al-Mohannadi, Member of Security Committee of Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, Head of Advisory Office Unit of Security Committee and representative of Qatar. The delegation will hold a meeting on the sidelines of the meeting of the Standing Committee with the special team for managing the Qatar bid of the European Council. The meeting will discuss the road map which was adopted in preparation for the membership of Qatar to the Council of Europe Convention on Integrated Safety, Security and Service Approach at Football Matches and Other Sports Events known as St Denis Convention.  This replaces the Convention on Spectator Violence by the end of this year. Thus, Qatar is expected to become a member of the Council of Europe.Through this partnership, Qatar seeks to develop measures in line with international standards relating to security and safety as well as accompanying services during its hosting of the World Cup 2022. Through this partnership Qatar also aims to join the European Council’s Conventions against Doping in Sport. This partnership comes as part of the Council of Europe’s efforts to create partnerships with the countries that will host major sporting events.
