Advisory Council discusses draft law on acquisition of dangerous animals

The Advisory Council held yesterday its weekly regular meeting under the chairmanship of HE the Speaker Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud.At the outset of the meeting, the Council discussed a draft law amending some provisions of Law No 21 of 2004 on ministers, and decided to refer it to the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee for further study and a report. The council also discussed a draft law regulating the acquisition of dangerous animals and organisms.Under the draft law, it is prohibited to acquire, import, export or trade in any dangerous animals and organisms without a licence from the competent department. It is also prohibited to bring, walk or hike with any of the dangerous animals and organisms in public places. The draft law sets penalties for violators of its provisions.The council also discussed a draft law on reconciliation of the crimes stipulated in some provisions of the laws relating to the municipality and the environment.The council then decided to refer the two draft laws to the Services and Public Utilities Committee for discussion and a report.Meanwhile, the Advisory Council’s Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee held its first meeting yesterday, within its 47th ordinary session. The committee unanimously elected Nasser bin Rashid Saria al-Kaabi as its rapporteur for this session. The committee examined Decree Law No 19 of 2018 amending some of the provisions of Law Practice Act No 23 of 2006, and examined a draft law amending some provisions of Law No 21 of 2004 concerning ministers. It decided to submit its recommendations to the Advisory Council. The Advisory Council’s Public Services and Utilities Committee also held its first meeting yesterday, within its 47th ordinary session. The committee unanimously elected Mohamed bin Mahdi al-Ahbabi as its rapporteur for this session. The committee examined a draft law regulating the acquisition of dangerous animals and creatures, and studied another draft law on conciliation in the crimes stipulated in some laws concerning municipalities and the environment. It decided to complete its study of the two draft laws at its next meeting.
