42 migrants arrested on the American side of border with Mexico

The US Immigration Police arrested 42 Latin American immigrants on the American side of the border with Mexico while attempting to forcibly cross into the United States.

CNN quoted Chief Patrol Agent Rodney Scott as saying that that 42 people crossed the border and were stopped, and other people were able to cross the border, without being arrested.

The arrested migrants were part of about 500 people who tried to cross the border in Tijuana before being intercepted by US security forces using tear gas and rubber bullets.

The border was subsequently closed for a brief period between Tijuana and San Diego in California.

More than 4,300 people came from Latin American countries to enter American territory to escape violence and poverty and for a better life. (QNA)
