QatarDebate, a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, recently organised the second Qatar Universities Debate League (QUDL) in English, hosted by College of the North Atlantic – Qatar (CNA-Q). A total of 16 teams from seven institutions participated in the event. The rounds discussed three thought-provoking topics: “This house believes that sports league associations (such as UEFA, IPL and NBA) should cap annual club spending”; “This house supports China’s rise as a superpower”; and “This house regrets the narrative that democracy is the ideal form of governance”. The debating teams represented Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, CNA-Q, Georgetown University in Qatar, Northwestern University in Qatar, Qatar University (QU), Hamad Bin Khalifa University and Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar (WCM-Q). With regard to the results, the debate points earned by the top two teams are accumulated. The university rankings in this league are as follows: WCM-Q and QU.
