AlBahie’s art auction on Nov 27 at Katara

AlBahie’s ‘Modern and Contemporary Art Auction Including Property from the Collection of Dr Jochen A Sokoly’ will be held on November 27, it has been announced.The auction will take place at 7pm in AlBahie’s main auction hall at Katara Building 22C.The auction will comprise major works by emerging and established regional artists alongside internationally renowned artists of the Arab diaspora. It will be led by an encaustic collage by Samia Halaby (Lot 53, Dance on Canal Oneestimate $10,000-12,000), and eight Icons of The Nile by Chant Avedissian (Lots 17-24, estimate $7,000-9,000 each), being offered for the first time since the artist’s recent passing.“AlBahie is pleased to offer outstanding examples of great works by Fateh al-Mouadarres, Shakir Hassan al-Said and Baya Mahieddine, all of which we bring to auction in Doha for the first time, something we expect will spark a strong response from our local and international collectors.
