CAA organises workshop on meteorology, crisis management
The two-day workshop, which opened Monday, is being attended by several governmental organisations, including Coasts and Borders Security Department, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, Ashghal, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Public Health, Qatar Aeronautical College, Qatar Armed Forces, and Amiri Yachts.The aim of the workshop is to explain the role of meteorology and the services it provides to various sectors of the State to better manage crises, so as to provide assistance during emergencies, especially since the exceptional weather conditions witnessed in the country during the past period.The workshop will also discuss important means of strengthening and enhancing co-operation between meteorologists and the various agencies in this field.The topics of the first day of the workshop includes contribution of meteorology in crisis and disaster management, forecast, weather conditions affecting Qatar, and meteorological data.While the second day will deal with climate services, the impact of airborne pollution on health, delivered by the Ministry of public Health, the Meteorological Centre of Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI), as well as the discussion on preparedness for earthquakes.
