Cabinet welcomes IPU decision to hold its 140th session in Qatar

The regular Cabinet meeting, chaired by HE the Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, yesterday welcomed the decision made by the General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) at its recent conference in Geneva to hold its 140th session in Qatar from April 6 to 10, 2019.Following the Cabinet meeting held at the Amiri Diwan, HE the Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Dr Hassan Lahdan Saqr al-Mohannadi said that the Cabinet stressed that Doha’s hosting of this important conference is a demonstration of the confidence of the international community in Qatar under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and its effective role in ensuring peace and stability in the region and the world.The Cabinet also expressed its appreciation to the countries that supported this decision, stressing that Qatar welcomes all the presidents and delegations of the world parliaments and its keenness to ensure the success of this major international event.The Cabinet then reviewed topics on its meeting’s agenda. The Cabinet approved the amendment of some provisions of the co-operation agreement in the field of security and law enforcement between the Ministry of Interior of Qatar and the Ministry of Public Security of China.The Cabinet took the necessary procedures for the ratification of the following:1- An agreement between the governments of Qatar and India for co-operation in the field of culture.2- An agreement between the governments of Qatar and France in the field of cultural co-operation.3- A memorandum of understanding for co-operation in the field of culture between the governments of Qatar and Ivory Coast.4- A memorandum of understanding for co-operation in sport between the governments of Qatar and  Ivory Coast.5- A memorandum of understanding for co-operation in the field of youth between the governments of Qatar and Ivory Coast.The Cabinet also reviewed a memorandum on the co-ordination of procedures and regulations for the allocation of lands to investors, and decided to form a working team of representatives of the authorities concerned to study the issue in all its aspects and put appropriate solutions to make it easier for the investors in accordance with the principles of justice in the allocation and transparency of procedures.It also reviewed the 13th report of National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) on the situation of human rights in Qatar.The Cabinet then took the appropriate decision.The report included a statement on the outcomes of the committee’s works and activities and its recommendations in this regard.
