The British Council and Qatar Armed Forces Language Institute have partnered to deliver IELTS (International English Language Testing System) for all Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Interior personnel and their families. “The British Council confirms its intent to recognise and authorise the Qatar Armed Forces Language Institute as an independent IELTS test centre in Qatar,” it was announced in a statement.The signing ceremony at Qatar Armed Forces Language Institute was attended by members from Qatar Armed Forces and the British Council.The collaboration also supports the strategic vision of the Qatar Armed Forces to develop and identify capabilities in English language skills. The new test centre is located in Al Sheehaniya.Sam Ayton, country director at the British Council, Qatar said: “The strength and continuing success of the British Council rests on strategic collaboration with our partners in Qatar in the fields of Education and Culture. We aim to build connections which support growth and empowerment of their vision and personnel. As the international language for communication, English is a core skill, and by investing in international quality testing for their personnel, the Qatar Armed Forces are taking a lead in ensuring their staff have the best support and preparation they need for the future.” Brigadier General (Staff) Ibrahim K al-Mannai – Language Institute Commander said: “The Qatar Armed Forces Language Institute intends to work hand in hand with the British Council. The centre aims to provide IELTS examinations to all personnel of the Qatar Armed Forces as well as to the State Security Agencies in Qatar.”
