The State of Qatar called for continuing all efforts to alleviate the humanitarian suffering of the Yemeni people and the continued access of humanitarian assistance to the Yemenis while stressing the importance of ensuring the protection of civilians, justice and accountability for all human rights violations in the country. This came in the speech of the State of Qatar during the interactive dialogue on the report of the High Commissioner for Human Rights on the conclusions and recommendations of the panel of independent senior experts on Yemen as part of the work of the 39th session of the Human Rights Council, “Item 10”, delivered by third secretary to the Permanent Delegation of the State of Qatar in Geneva Talal al-Naama.In his speech, al-Naama expressed deep concern about the information presented in the report concerning violations and crimes against the Yemeni people, such as arbitrary detention and enforced disappearances, torture and degrading treatment, rape and abuse of human dignity as well as violations of freedom of expression and recruitment of children, pointing out that all this was happening in the absence of accountability and widespread impunity for those responsible and at all levels. Al-Naama pointed out that Yemen is now at a critical crossroad, either to go towards further instability and deterioration of humanitarian, economic and living conditions, or to cross the way of salvation.Al-Naama stressed that in this regard, Qatar renews the call to all Yemeni parties to give priority to the political solution in accordance with the adopted directives, and to activate the national dialogue with the participation of all the Yemeni people.
