4,513 abandoned vehicles removed from April

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) has carried out a comprehensive campaign to remove abandoned vehicles around the country.

A total of 4,513 abandoned vehicles have been removed from April until August, according to an MME official.

The initiative, implemented by the MME's committee for removing abandoned vehicles, covered main roads, lanes, parking lots as well as areas adjacent to garages. The vehicles were removed after the municipalities concerned completed the necessary legal procedures.

The campaign comes within the framework of efforts undertaken by the the ministry to preserve the aesthetic and civil appearance of places around Qatar, the MME has said in a press statement.

Saleh Hassan al-Kuwari, vice-chairman of the committee, said the panel is continuing with its inspection campaign across all municipalities in the country with the aim of curbing the practice of abandoning cars and other vehicles. He said 4,513 abandoned vehicles have been removed from April until August.

Al-Kuwari called on all entities concerned in the country to co-operate with the committee to end the 'abandoned vehiclestarget="_blank"'>
