The contracts were awarded to the winning companies after a process of studying and evaluating the offers of the investors and holding meetings with them on a competitive basis.

Qatar marks World Population DayMarking the 50th anniversary of the 1968 International Conference on Human Rights the annual World Population Day 2018 will be celebrated under the theme “Family Planning is a Human Right.” The conferences outcome document, known as the Teheran Proclamation, stated unequivocally: “Parents have a basic human right to determine freely and responsibly the number and spacing of their children.”Annually celebrated on July 11, World Population Day seeks to focus attention on the urgency and importance of population issues. Qatar celebrates the day this year in line with the first anniversary of launching Qatar Population Policy 2017-2022, which was set by the Permanent Population Committee (PPC). Qatar National Library will be holding an open seminar celebrating the World Population Day with the participation of the PPC and Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics. The PPC seeks to achieve a balance between population growth an the requirements for sustainable developments, which improves the quality of life for residents of Qatar.

Minister of Justice meets British envoyHE the Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Dr Hassan Lahdan Saqr al-Mohannadi met yesterday with the ambassador of the United Kingdom to Qatar Ajay Sharma. The acting minister for foreign affairs of El Salvador praised the bilateral relations between Qatar and his country. For his part, the Acting charge d’affaires Ahmed bin Mohamed al-Horr thanked the government for support  for Qatar in the Gulf crisis.Qatar’s fight against cybercrime stressedThe Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations and international organisations in Vienna Sheikh Ali bin Jassim al-Thani has met with UN Chief of Cybercrime, Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Financing of Terrorism Department Neil Walsh at the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Vienna. During the meeting, they discussed enhancing relations between Qatar and the United Nations in combating cybercrime. He reiterated Qatar’s commitment to supporting the United Nations efforts to combat organised crime.
