Qatar-Oman pact for better cooperation in education, tech
Qatar and Oman signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on enhancing and developing cooperation in the fields of science, higher education and technology.
Dr Ibrahim bin Saleh al-Nuaimi, undersecretary at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, signed the MoU with ambassador of Oman to Doha, Najeeb bin Yahya Al Balushi.The signing of the MoU stems from the excellent relations between Qatar and Oman, and their keenness to promote and develop cooperation in the fields of science and higher education on the basis of the principle of mutual interest and to achieve the goals and objectives of common concern.According to the MoU, the two parties encourage cooperation in exchange of experiences in the transfer of science, knowledge and modern technology as well as conducting joint scientific research and exchanging visits between higher education officials, members of academic entities, lecturers, researchers and students at higher education institutions.The cooperation includes training of researchers and joint organisation of exhibitions, seminars and scientific forums, in addition to ensuring equal and effective protection of intellectual property rights in accordance with the legislation of both parties and international treaties that they are parties to.Under the MoU, the two parties shall prioritise cooperation in quality improvement in higher education, advanced educational programmes and use of modern technology in higher education. In accordance with their respective procedures, the two parties shall encourage the enrollment of students of the other party into their own recommended higher education institutions in accordance with the capacity of these institutions and meeting the admission requirements for the courses offered.
