QDB backs Qatari SME projects at ‘National Plastic Exhibition 2018’

Qatar Development Bank (QDB), through its export development agency Tasdeer, recently participated in the ‘National Plastic Exhibition 2018’, the world’s largest plastics trade show and conference in the Western Hemisphere.QDB’s special pavilion at the exhibition hosted 11 Qatari companies in the plastics industry. The participation of Qatari companies at ‘NPE 2018’ stems from QDB’s mission to strengthen and diversify Qatar’s private sector with a focus on developing competitive edge and export services of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the global markets.The participating Qatari companies included Bu Matar Germany Factory for Plastic Products, Doha Plastic, Qatar Integrated Plastic Bags, Al Naqeeb Plastic Factory, Bin Aman Plastic Industries, Asima Plastic Factory, Qatar Plastic Products, Advanced Plastic Factory, Hepworth PME, Al Rayyan Plastic Factory, and Al Muftah Polymers.NPE 2018, known as the world’s leading plastics trade show, featured exhibitors from over 2,000 companies worldwide that displayed cutting-edge technology in the industry. Participants learned about revolutionary technologies, innovative ideas, and strategic developments, while connecting with buyers and decision makers from the plastics industry, as well as its verticals and peripheral markets worldwide.The exhibition was an opportunity for Qatari SMEs to promote their products and enhance their position in the international markets as part of QDB’s efforts to increase growth and diversification of the Qatari economy. QDB CEO Abdulaziz bin Nasser al-Khalifa said, “Qatar Development Bank’s participation in NPE 2018 is in line with our vision to contribute to the development and strength of Qatar’s export sector by sharing a significant international platform where Qatari SMEs have the opportunity to network and gain a stronger foothold in different markets. “Our participation for the third consecutive time in NPE, which is a key industry event, is more critical than ever as SMEs have played a significant role in reinforcing Qatar’s economy and overcoming the siege imposed on Qatar.”He added: “By enhancing the competitiveness of Qatari exporters and executing key initiatives aimed at developing and promoting exports from Qatar to international markets, we are closer to achieving sustainable development and economic diversification in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030.”QDB’s initiatives, through ‘Tasdeer’, continuously aim to support, develop, and promote locally-made products; exports and have significantly contributed to Qatar’s competitive edge in global markets. By encouraging participation in international conferences like NPE 2018, QDB continues to facilitate positive growth for Qatari SMEs and encourages Qatari exporters to identify target markets beyond the region.
