Interior Ministry celebrates Arab Traffic Week 2018

The Ministry of Interior (MoI), represented in General Directorate of Traffic, celebrated Arab Traffic Week 2018, under the slogan “Following the Rules, Reflects your Awareness”. On the occasion the ministry organised a two-day awareness exhibition with the participation of a number of bodies concerned with the traffic affairs.The exhibition aimed at raising the awareness about the traffic rules and regulations of all road users, and enhancing traffic culture among the various segments of society.The Director of the Traffic Awareness Department at the General Directorate of Traffic, Colonel Mohamed Radi al-Hajri, said that the department is celebrating this occasion with the aim of sending traffic awareness messages and educating road users on the traffic rules and regulations that must be followed.He pointed out that the General Directorate of Traffic has called for a number of traffic related entities such as Qatar Red Crescent, Hamad Medical Corporation, Qatar University’s Studies Centre and a number of Ministry of Interior departments which enhances the concept of traffic culture, and strengthens the support elements for all road users.He pointed out that the focus is on awareness of the road users, because the main objective is the preservation of life and property, adding that the department also focuses on educating young people.He added that in spite of recent decline in numbers of deaths from traffic accidents, most of fatalities have been in the youth category.Al-Hajri referred to the development of emergency services saying: “There has been a clear decline in the number of deaths, which indicates the quality of ambulance and rescue operations.”He further stressed the seriousness of the Ministry of Interior and its partners to achieve the goals of the Traffic Plan for 2018-2022, aimed at reducing the number of deaths.
