Kids delight as Amir Cup trophy tour continues

Following the success of previous tours, schoolchildren of the Birla Public School and The International School of Choueifat were invited to be part of the first stop of the Amir Cup Trophy Tour.The 46th edition of the Amir Cup has reached the quarter-finals stage with the last-eight clashes set to take place on May 3 and 4 with the final slated for May 19.The Qatar Football Association (QFA) delegation received a warm welcome from the schoolchildren who displayed different dance performances and shows to express their enthusiasm for the tournament.The delegation consisted of Ali al-Salat, head of Media, Noora al-Tammimi, head of Social Responsibility, Abdulrahman Abduljabar, Social Media specialist, Nabil Qayed and Mohamed Hashim, schools co-ordinators. Players Talal al-Bloushi and Abdulhamid Enad from popular teams Al Arabi and Al Rayyan were also present at the event.At the Birla Public School, the QFA delegation was welcomed by the staff of the school where students also engaged in football-related conversations with players and officials.The students gathered enthusiastically around the famous trophy to take memorable pictures while wearing their favourite football team jersey.Not only did the students have a chance to hold the prestigious trophy, they also had the opportunity to take memorable pictures with it.Commenting on the occasion, Birla Public School principal PA Sharma said, “We are proud to welcome the Amir Cup Trophy in our school and to be part of the promotional campaign for the Amir Cup 2018. Being part of this major event has a great impact on the students and faculty as it makes us feel involved in the biggest football competition of the year.”He added: “Sport plays a vital role in the well-being of our students and we constantly organise countless sports and football-related activities for the school children as it is our responsibility to ensure that our students live a healthy and active lifestyle.”At the International School of Choueifat, Al Duhail players Almoez Ali, Bassam al-Rawi and Abdullah al-Ahraq took centre stage as students raced to display their footballing skills with the Qatar national team trio.  The tour also included gift distribution and a briefing session about the tournament and football in general. The students were invited to attend the matches and take part in the different community events that QFA is organising in the lead up to the final match. The final match is set to take place on May 19 at Khalifa international Stadium.Al-Salat, Head of Media, said, “The school trophy tour is part of our overall plan to involve the community, we have witnessed a very positive response by the students of the schools we visited and hope to see the students enjoy the fun-packed programmes that our sponsors have organised. We also hope to see the students in the stadiums.”Organising the Trophy Tour illustrates QFA’s objective to instil a football culture amongst school students at a young age.The trophy tour will continue until the day of the final as football fans across the country interact with players and officials and engage in conversations related to the country’s popular football event.
