MEC shuts commercial entity for a month

The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) has closed down a commercial entity for a month for selling counterfeit sporting merchandise.
The closure came within the framework of intensive inspection campaigns carried out by the MEC to monitor the markets and commercial activities in the country with the aim of controlling prices and detecting infringements and counterfeit goods, as well as products not conforming to standard specifications.The ministry affirmed that it will be firm in dealing with all those who neglect to comply with their obligations under the Consumer Protection Law and its executive regulations, and will intensify its inspection campaigns to control such practices. It added in a statement that any case involving a violation of the relevant laws will be forwarded to the competent authorities for appropriate action.The ministry urged all consumers to report violations to the Department of Consumer Protection, which receives complaints, suggestions and enquiries through its various channels of communication.
