‘Words of gold’ exposition opens at Katara

The ‘Words of Gold’ exhibition by Qatari artist Iman al-Saad opened this week at Katara – the Cultural Village, featuring a distinctive collection of paintings that celebrate verses from the Holy Qur’an, written in calligraphy using gold.Katara general manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti led the opening of the exhibition at Building 22, which will run until the end of this month.“I dedicated my work in the first exhibition on the verses of the Holy Qur’an to my late mother Amna Mahmoud al-Jaidah, as she was the first to teach the Holy Qur’an in Qatar, and the profits of the whole exhibition will be donated on behalf of my mother to Qatar Charity,” al-Saad said.The artist added that she chose the title ‘Words of Gold’ for this exhibition for two principal reasons: first, she wanted to refer to what she had written from the Qur’anic verses, which are worthy to be written with gold, and second, she used gold in all of her paintings.
