Katara concert enthrals Hungarian, Polish nationals

The “Friendship in Music” concert, held recently at Katara – the Cultural Village, attracted a large number of spectators from the Hungarian and Polish communities in Qatar.The concert, in co-operation with the Hungarian and Polish embassies in Doha, witnessed two renowned musicians from the two countries performing many traditional and folk music, in addition to some contemporary music with mutual production. Hungarian composer, orchestrator and conductor Peter Pejtsik performed interesting shows for the audience, along with famous Polish pianist Dawid Nowaczyk.Hungarian ambassador Fodor Barnabas said this concert aims to commemorate the strong relations between the two nations. “We have good historical relations with Poland and music is an international language to present this friendship so we called our concert ‘Friendship in Music,” he noted.The envoy explained that Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia are called the “V4” countries – an alliance between the central European countries, which are close in culture and art.“This year, Hungary serves as president to this alliance so we decided to organise this concert to celebrate that,” Fodor added.He stressed that it is the first time for his embassy to organise a cultural event in Qatar as he looks forward to more cultural performances, lauding the efforts of the organisers at Katara for making this concert a success.
