Mowasalat Company has added 321 new taxis to its fleet, replacing almost the same number of old taxis. All the new taxis are Volkswagen Jetta models, the company said on Monday.

The flagging off ceremony of the new taxis took place at Mowasalat complex in the Industrial Area where the company's managing director and CEO Khalid Nasser al-Hail, directors of various departments and Q-Auto general manager Ahmed Shariefi were present.

The new taxis come with features such as music system equipped with Bluetooth, tyre pressure monitoring, advanced dashboard and comfortable steering wheel design among others.

It was announced at the launch that all taxis are replaced once in five years to ensure the highest level of quality and services.

"We stand apart from others as the major operator for taxi services, accountable to the public as a strong local brand providing transport services to the country's residents. Our company maintains transparency while communicating to the customers besides extending services in a systematic customer-friendly process," said a company official.

Mowasalat also has a "lost and found" section and "customer complaint cell”, where the customer complaints and feedback are responded to within a few hours after thorough investigation. If crew is found at fault, suitable action is taken as per the company's disciplinary action policy, the company says.

Mowasalat Karwa has drivers of diverse cultures and about 54 nationalities are serving the company. The recruitment team visits respective countries for selecting staff and adequate and decent facilities are provided to the new recruits. While selections are done such capabilities as basic English language levels are tested and it is also made sure that the candidates held local valid driving licence.

On their arrival in Qatar, the new recruits are accommodated in Karwa city, and they are trained to get local driving licence and then after a familiarisation programme and they are put to operate and serve the customers.

Mowasalat taxis have a 4,000-plus fleet and are operated through four franchisees besides company's own taxis. The franchisees are distinguished from each other by their roof colours and are Al Million (Maroon), Al-Ijarah (Navy Blue), Capital Taxis of Ibn Ajayan (Dark Grey) and Yellow Taxis (Yellow). Karwa's own taxis bear light grey on their roof.
