Nepali expatriates hail Qatar’s resilience

The ongoing blockade of Qatar is 10 months old. The country dealt with the challenge dexterously. It has turned the challenge into an opportunity for self sufficiency.Nepali community, one of the largest in Qatar, continues to support the national interest of the country during this unjust siege. Expressing solidarity with Qatar, the sprawling expatriate community of about 450,000 has declared the country as their second home. Nepali expatriates believe that it is their responsibility to support Qatar during the blockade as the country has supported them a lot to build their careers here. Community recently caught up with some Nepali expatriates and asked about the way they had been supporting their ‘second home’ during the siege.Nitendra Kumar  JhaI have been in Qatar since 2013. I have been working as a deputy human resources manager with a reputed construction company. In the beginning, I was little concerned about my tasks and job but gradually I learnt how to do my daily assignments. In this regard, the congenial working environment and overall friendly atmosphere in Qatar helped me a lot in overcoming my early hiccups. Since my first day in Qatar, I have a feeling of love and respect for the country.I have not been worried about the after effects of the blockade as my employer never made the workers worry about the situation. In 2015, my country faced the embargoes imposed by neighbouring India. During the blockade, Nepali people suffered severe shortage of daily supplies. Contrary to what happened in Nepal, life seems pretty normal in Qatar. There are around 3,000 employees in our company. Nobody has ever complained about any trouble. I have recently brought my wife to Qatar. I thank Qatar for everything. I will always support it during all kinds of challenges.Ananda GCI joined a company as an office boy in 2011 in Qatar. Today, I am a marketing executive in the same company. I am thankful to Qatar for providing me with an opportunity to work happily and safely and support my family back home. I fully support Qatar as it has fully supported me. We have not been affected by the blockade and we are working as usual. The country has been on the path of resilience since the siege was imposed last June.As a Nepali citizen working here, I request international community including Nepal to support Qatar as it is facing unjustified blockade. Lastly, I want to salute the tenacity of the Qatari government.Prem Prasad BhattaraiI have been in Qatar since June 2011. I believe the blockade is a wrong step by the neighbours of Qatar. The blockade has not slowed the growth and progress of Qatar. The siege will not help the neighbours. If there is some misunderstanding, the blockading countries need to come to the negotiating table and find a peaceful solution.When I first heard the news of the blockade, I got anxious. However, my anxiety faded after the first three days. I got satisfied with the right measures that the government took to neutralise every possible negative fallout. I salute the government of Qatar for safeguarding its national interests and striving to keep life normal.Biswo Kumar ShresthaI am currently working as an accountant. I came to Qatar two and a half years ago. Talking about the blockade, I have seen no difference made by the siege. The post-blockade situation has not hampered our company’s growth. The Government of Qatar responded tactfully, to keep the situation under control. There has been no negative impact on my personal life here. Both I and my community will continue to support the country to face these challenges.Kranti SinghI have been working in Qatar for the last 14 years. I am currently, working as an administrative officer. Thousands of Nepali workers continue to support and respect Qatar. I think the siege countries are targeting Qatar for its impressive and sustained growth. The blockade is aimed at slowing down the progress and halting the prosperity of Qatar. The country however, has thwarted every nefarious move. During the ten months of siege, we have faced no personal or professional difficulty. I express my solidarity with Qatar. I am so happy to work in Qatar. I love Qatar. The Nepali community will always stand by Qatar.
