Qatar, Russia sign agreement on judicial co-operation

Qatar and Russia on Wednesday signed a co-operation agreement in the fields of justice, combating corruption and co-operation in the field of major sports events.
HE the Attorney-General Dr Ali bin Fetais al-Marri and Prosecutor General of Russia, Yury Chaika, signed the agreement.Dr al-Marri, who is visiting Moscow, said that co-operation between the Public Prosecution in Qatar and its Russian counterpart is not new, adding this agreement renewed the commitment of the two parties to consolidate their partnership.He noted in a statement after the signing that the agreement also included co-operation in the field of major sports events, especially the organisation of the World Cup.He added that Russia is about to organise the FIFA World Cup this summer and that a group of Qatar's deputy public prosecutors are scheduled to join their Russian counterparts to share expertise and follow up events, in addition to learn about how to investigate fan-related issues, as such issues will benefit the Qatari side in the management of sports events thereafter.He also added that a delegation from the Public Prosecution of the Russian Federation is scheduled to visit Doha soon to benefit from Qatar's judicial experience and enhance bilateral co-operation in this field.
