The Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) hosted in Doha yesterday a meeting for the New Technologies and Logistics Committee of the International Association of Gendarmeries and Police Forces with Military Status (FIEP), to discuss mechanism for responding to terrorist attacks in open spaces with the participation of 15 countries from the association’s member-states.Participants in the meeting reviewed the experiences of their countries in combating terrorist operations from a logistical perspective and with the use of information systems, and discussed enhancing capabilities and exchanging information and expertise in security areas among member-states.In this context, Brigadier Ibrahim Khalil al-Mohannadi, head of the Legal Affairs Department at Lekhwiya and member of the National Counter-Terrorism Committee, said that terrorism has become a serious threat to the world as a whole and not only to a specific people, which requires concerted efforts to confront this phenomenon especially by the security institutions, which need more co-operation and co-ordination among themselves. He highlighted the importance of the new technology for security institutions, especially in light of the current challenges and risks and the developments taking place in the world, referring to Lekhwiya’s varied experience in this area, which has successfully managed to use the latest technology systems in many tasks and duties carried out and supervised by national cadres of young officers.Al-Mohannadi said that Lekhwiya’s participation in FIEP meeting aims at raising capabilities and improving its performance through the interactive relations developed during the meetings of the Supreme Council of Leaders as well as the meetings of specialised committees, which provide the opportunity to exchange experiences, co-ordination and encourage studies in the field of human resources. These meetings help to exchange experiences in the field of training and co-ordination between training policies, conduct comparative studies between the various methods, programmes and plans in force in each country, and facilitate the exchange of information and experiences between the competent authorities.
